CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL — Two separate incidents involving vehicle rollovers in Champaign sent multiple people to the hospital Saturday night, reports WCIA.

The first collision took place at the intersection of West Springfield Avenue and South State Street. Champaign Police responded to the scene after receiving a call at 8:17 p.m. The cause of the crash is unclear, but authorities said one vehicle sustained damage after striking a traffic signal, and at least one additional vehicle overturned.

Responding officers administered aid to the occupants of the rolled vehicle and helped them exit the wreckage safely. One patient who suffered undisclosed injuries was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The second crash happened on Mattis Avenue near the intersection with Bloomington Road at about 8:30 p.m. Police say two vehicles were involved, one of which veered off the roadway and overturned in a nearby ditch.

The events leading up to the second incident are also unclear. However, one person was extricated form their vehicle and taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

The two drivers responsible for the collisions each received citations. Their identities are not mentioned in the report.
