CHARLESTON, IL – A 50-year-old driver and a 47-year-old driver died Monday morning after their vehicles collided along a highway in Charleston, reports WCIA.
The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. on the southbound side of IL-130 near 300N, which is just west of Stringtown Cemetery.
Police say a northbound Toyota Highlander veered into the southbound lane and collided with an oncoming Hyundai Sonata.
Both drivers died at the scene of the accident.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, nor have they clarified what might have caused the driver of the Highlander to enter oncoming traffic.
A full investigation is underway.
