Bumbo Baby Seat Recalls 4 Million Units

Last Updated: 20 August, 2012

A molded-foam baby seat is being recalled  as of August 15, 2012 by the manufacturer after scores of injuries, according to a statement released by the company and the Consumers Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Bumbo International is recalling four million molded-foam seats called Bumbo Baby Seats that are intended to be used as chairs for infants. The seats are made in South Africa and are sold in the United States at various stores including Babies R Us, Sears, Target Corp. Toy R Use, Walmart and online sellers.

Since 2007, there have been at least fifty reports of injuries to a child while the seat was on a raised surface in which there were nineteen skull fractures. Another thirty-four incidents were reported when the seat was utilized on the floor resulting in two skull fractures.

Those who own the seat are being encouraged to not use the product until they can get a repair kit from the manufacturer.

Products for children should make life easier not more worrisome. If you or a loved one know a child who has been injured by a faulty product, call Spiros Law, P.C. at (815) 929-9292 to explore your legal rights.
