Car crash on Interstate 80 causes traffic backup

Last Updated: 16 July, 2010

A man was injured in a car accident after he struck a utility pole on the side of the road.

According to authorities,  the 47-year-old man was driving a Ford Taurus on Interstate 80 when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons causing his car to veer off of the side of the road.

He then struck a utility pole, a fence and a light pole before coming to a stop. The collision knocked down power lines causing the Taurus to catch fire. Police were forced to close nearby streets causing traffic to take a detour. The man was cited for driving with a revoked license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
