Chain reaction Accident in Plainfield leaves One Dead, Five Injured

A chain reaction accident at Route 126 and County Line Road just west of Plainfield took the life of one man and sent five others to the hospital on Sauturday, July16th.

Around 2:30 in the afternoon a Nissan Altima carrying a family was on westbound Rt. 126 and waitng to turn left on County Line Road. That is when a Dodge Durango, also heading westbound hit the Altima from behind. The Durango then veered off and spun several times. The force of the impact pushed the Altima into the eastbound lane and collided with a motorcycle heading east.

The driver of the Durango was thrown from his vehicle. He was sent to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in serious condition. The family in the Altima had to be extricated from their vehicle and were taken to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. The woman passenger was in critical condition while the male driver and two children were in serious condition. The motorcyclist, Ron Oswald of Minooka, died at Rush-Copely Hospital in Aurora that evening.
