Collision Sends Three to the Hospital

Publish Date: 2022, 09, 06

A two-car crash resulted in three people being injured. The collision occurred on Interstate 57 at mile marker 308. Illinois State Police District 21 at Ashkum reported that the collision occurred in the northbound lanes, just before 7:30pm. The ISP investigation found that a Nissan Altima was stopped in the left lane due to a flat tire or other equipment issues. While the Nissan Altima was at a stop, a Chevrolet Caprice made a lane change and struck the Altima.

The driver of the Chevrolet, and their passenger, were both transported to a local hospital with injuries. The other driver was also transported to an area hospital to tend to their injuries. Both drivers received tickets, the Altima for improper lane usage and the Caprice for not having insurance.

Driving can be dangerous. Paying attention to the road and others driving around you is the most important thing when operating a vehicle to help avoid crashes from happening. However, even when we are being cautious and following all of the rules of the road, sometimes we cannot prevent car collisions from happening. We can do all the right things and still be involved in a car crash that was not our fault. It is important to know what your options are if this happens. It is important to seek medical attention for you and anyone in your vehicle immediately. Next, it is recommended that you seek out legal counsel. It is important to speak to a lawyer who knows how to navigate insurance agencies, police records, and medical bills when trying to create an insurance claim after an accident. Insurance agencies often try to offer the lowest possible settlements and sometimes their offers do not even cover the cost of the medical treatment received.
