Publish Date: 2023, 04, 07

IROQUOIS COUNTY, IL — A 35-year-old Sheldon woman was issued a citation last Friday after a single-vehicle crash on Illinois State Route 1 near north Watseka, according to Iroquois County police reports provided by Times-Republic.

The accident happened off the northbound lanes at 2183 IL-1, south of 2200 North Road.

Officers with the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Department said the woman was driving northbound at a rate of speed too fast for the conditions when her vehicle hydroplaned. The vehicle traveled into the west ditch, continued north, and then collided with a private fence and nearby shrubbery.

No injuries were reported, but the female driver was cited for “driving too fast for conditions” and “improper lane usage.” The total cost in damage to her own vehicle was believed to be over $1500.
