SPRINGFIELD, IL – Police are looking into the cause of a high-speed crash that claimed the life of a Springfield man on Monday, May 1st.
According to WCIA, the 41-year-old man was hearing west on Cook Street when a northbound vehicle ran the red light at South Second Street and slammed into Crews’ vehicle.
The man was rushed to Springfield Memorial Hospital in serious condition. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital five days later. The other driver, whose identity is being withheld at this time, was also seriously injured and remains hospitalized.
Police issued the striking driver a number of citations. Additional criminal charges are currently pending.
