Extra alarm fire in Southside Apartment Building Send Four to the Hospital

Last Updated: 29 June, 2012

An extra-alarm fire on the southside of Chicago ran trhough an apartment building, sending four people to the hospital.

On Tuesday, June 26th a fire broke out at the building located in the 700 block of East 82nd Street. One resident stated that it was her dog who’s barking that woke her up. When she tried to go out her apartment door, it was very hot to the touch and she had to jump out of her window. Others grabbed children and family members and were greeted by firefighters outside of their windows.

The fire appears to have started in a stairwell and flames were seen coming out of the roof and upper windows when firefighters arrived on the scene. By 7:00 a.m., the fire was under control. Four people were sent to the hospital, one of those in critical condition.

Fires can break out anywhere and move quickly, causing damage to buildings and people. If you or a loved one knows someone whose life has been changed by a fire, call Spiros Law, P.C. at (815) 929-9292  to explore your legal rights.
