Forklift Accident Claims the Life of Worker.

A workplace accident on March 27, 2012 led to the death of a Menards employee who lived in Sandwich, Illinois. The accident took place in a Menards store in Sycamore, Illinois.

The Menards employee was doing maintenance work at the Sycamore store using a forklift when he became trapped in the machine and was crushed. Area fire and police departments were called to the scene about 2:30 p.m. in what was described as an industrial accident.

Evaristo Alvarado, 56, was not conscious when he was found and had turned blue. He was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. by the DeKalb County Coroner.  Authorities are investigating the incident further. Alvarado normally worked at the Menards distribution center in Plano and was doing maintenance work at the Sycamore location.
