Last Updated: 27 May, 2016

Four individuals sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision that occurred in a construction zone in the northbound lanes of I-57 in Kankakee County on Tuesday, May 24.

According to preliminary investigations made by the Illinois State Police, 79-year-old Chebanse resident Shelby Lamie was operating a 2013 Ford Sedan when she failed to slow down within the construction zone, causing her to collide with a 2016 Jeep operated by 50-year-old Mable West of Markham. Lamie and West’s passengers, 35-year-old Calumet City resident Alicia Dyson and 59-year-old Markham resident Beverly Lewis, were also injured in the incident. The four victims were brought to Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee to receive treatment for their non-life-threatening injuries.
