Interstate 55 truck accidents claim several lives

Last Updated: 22 July, 2014

The Daily Journal reported that on Monday, July 21 two fatal truck accidents in Illinois claimed the lives of five people. A commercial truck driver was charged for logbook violations in connection to one of the fatal accidents.

Around 2 p.m. near Channahon, four people were killed when two commercial trucks collided with three passenger vehicles. In addition to the fatalities, four people sustained injuries and were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Francisco Espinal-Quiroz, a driver involved in the accident, swerved into numerous lanes, crushing several cars and striking another vehicle. After the accident, Espinal-Quiroz was charged for recording falsified information into his trucking logbook.

Around the same time at Interstate 55 and Route 6, another accident occurred when two large trucks crashed into one another and claimed the life of one of the drivers. Interstate 55 was closed at both crash sites while clean-up efforts were underway, but have since re-opened.

The attorneys at Spiros Law, P.C., express our sincere condolences to everyone affected by these unfortunate accidents.
