Kankakee facility cited for multiple health violations

Last Updated: 17 August, 2012

Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have cited  a Johnson Controls facility, an auto parts maker in Kankakee, after health violations were found at an AT&T Inc, building that the company worked  on.

OSHA inspected the building after the alleged hazards were reported to them. After doing so, it was found that the health violations revolved around the presence of asbestos at the building.

The company allegedly failed to wear the correct protective gear and respirators, along with multiple other violations. Johnson Controls has 15 days to either request an informal conference with OSHA or comply with the guidelines of the citations. The citations total to nearly $59,000 in fines.
