Kankakee Man killed, Two People injured in Two Car Crash in Limestone Township

Last Updated: 07 March, 2012

Route 17 to the west of Kankakee was the scene of an accident that injured two people and killed a 56-year-old Kankakee man.

George McGrath was driving west on Rt. 17 near 6000 West Road in Limestone Township. Illinois State Police determined that McGrath ran off the road. When he over corrected, his Dodge Caravan swerved over to the eastbound lane, colliding with a Ford Focus driven by Ellen Hill. The 54-yer-old Bonfield woman and her unnamed passenger were injured and taken to Riverside Medical Center.

McGrath was thrown from the vehicle. It was surmised before the autopsy that McGrath died from massive head and chest injuries. The condition of the occupants of the Ford Focus is unknown at this time.
