Last Updated: 04 May, 2012

Four passengers were thrown from a car that crashed in Illinois’ McHenry County late in the night of May 2, 2012. One person died in the accident that remains under investigation.

Megan Hartigan, of  Algonquin, was riding in a 2004 Hyundai along with three other people as it was heading west on the 14600 block of Marengo Road in Huntly, Illinois. That is when the vehicle left the road into the ditch, then crashed into a culvert before flipping over.

All four occupants were ejected from the vehicle and it is hard to determine who was driving the car at the time of the accident. Hartigan, 21, was taken to Centgra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock where she later passed away.  The others were taken to Sherman Hospital and Provena St. Joseph Hospital, both in Elgin. Names are being withheld at this time and their physical conditions were not disclosed.

The McHenry County sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the crash scene.
