Last Updated: 20 June, 2012

A Joliet man has died after being hit by a car while riding his bike home from work.

James H. Farmer was riding home from his job, as was his regular routine, on the 600 block of South Midland Avenue on June 6th. The 49-year-old man was heading north when he was hit by a car driven by Cara Quiett, 31. He was thrown off of his bike and hit the pavement. Farmer was taken to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center and place on life support.

The Joliet resident died on June 18th. Quiett refused a breathalyzer test at the scene and was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. Police stated other charges could be added to the case upon review by the Will County State’s Attorney office.

Farmer is survived by a wife, three children and two brothers.
