Man files medical malpractice suit after going blind in surgery

A man has filed a medical malpractice suit against a surgeon and Trinity Regional Health System after losing his sight in surgery.

The man went to the hospital in May 2010 to have lumbar surgery and remove bone fragments from his body. When he awoke from the surgery, he was unresponsive, had low blood pressure and could not move his lower extremities.

The man is obese and had type 2 diabetes. The man also was unable to see and he never regained his sight. The court date is set for this summer and he is seeking $50,000 in damages.
