Last Updated: 30 November, 2015

Shortly after changing one of his tires on the shoulder of I-74 in Montgomery County, the driver of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix pulled back onto the interstate without yielding to an oncoming van, according to The News-Gazette. The van hit the rear of the Grand Prix and sent both vehicles onto the shoulder of the road.

Sadly, one of the passengers in the back seat of the Grand Prix was killed in the accident and the other back seat passenger sustained life-threatening injuries. The two front seat passengers and the driver of the van all sustained injuries that were not life threatening. Everyone involved in the accident was properly wearing a seat belt.

According to the Indiana state police, one or both drivers may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Toxicology results are pending and the police have not yet issued any citations for the accident. The accident remains under investigation by state police.
