One million birth control packs recalled by Pfizer

Last Updated: 03 February, 2012

One million packs of birth control have been recalled by Pfizer after it was found that there was a packaging error that increases the risk of pregnancy.

The affected products include the Lo/Ovral-28 tablets, and its generic forms, with the expiration date between July 2013 and March 2014. The products were distributed throughout the U.S. to pharmacies, clinics and warehouses.

The packages are supposed to include 21 hormone tablets and seven inactive pills that must be taken in order to prevent pregnancy from occurring. The recalled packs had either too few or too many hormone pills. A spokesperson for the company has said that that the issue has now been fixed.
