Overturned Semi Blocks I-57 ramp at Exit 308

Last Updated: 07 July, 2011

The southbound ramp of the 308 exit on Interstate 57 at the south end of Kankakee was blocked for nearly two hours on the morning of July 1, 2011 after a semi-truck overturned on the ramp.

Edward Cooper of Chicago was coming off of southbound I-57 and heading towards Route 45-52 when his truck overturned just before 7:00 a.m. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Cooper, 59, was transported to Riverside Hospital with minor injuries.

In order to remove the semi-truck from the scene, workers had to unload the trailer of its cargo. Police and road crews partially re-opened the ramp around 8:30 a.m. Cooper was given a citation for failure to reduce speed.

Not all semi-truck accidents are alone in an accident. If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident with a semi-truck, call Spiros Law, P.C. at (815) 929-9292 to find out your legal options.
