Paxton Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Wreck

Last Updated: 30 April, 2012

Route 45 in southern Ford County was the scene of a single vehicle accident that left a 53-year-old Paxton woman dead.

Toni Swan was riding with her husband, Dean Swan, in their Ford pick-up truck on Friday night. They were northbound on Route 45 towards Loda when the pick-up truck crossed over the centerline and left the road. The vehicle veered into the Canadian National Railway right of way and crashed into several trees.

According to Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum, Mrs. Swan died of apparent blunt force trauma. Mr. Swan was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana and later released. Illinois State Police troopers are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
