Popular Coffee Maker Recalling Over 600,000 Units

Over 600,00 single-cup coffee makers were recalled by the Mr. Coffee brand after reports of consumers being burned.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, steam build-up in the brewer’s water reservoir can force the chamber open, causing the hot water and coffee grounds to churn out. 59 Americans and 2 Canadian consumers of the product reported being burned on their face, upper torso and hands.

The product sold for approximately $80 in stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, and Bed,Bath,& Beyond. The recall focuses on the 520,00 units sold in theU.S.and 80,700 inCanadawhich were sold from September 2010 till August of this year. The product is made in China and imported by Jarden Consumer Solutions which also owns Oster and Sunbeam. These coffeemakers come in black with white, red or silver trim.
