Rauner not harmed in intersection car crash

Last Updated: 27 January, 2015

Illinois state police reported that fifty-seven-year-old Illinois Governor Bruce Vincent Rauner was not harmed in a car crash that occurred the morning of January 21 on his way to an event at the James R. Thompson Center, according to a Chicago Tribune article.

Police authorities stated that the governor was traveling in a routine state police motorcade from his home to the state building and was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street at around 8:15 a.m. when the accident happened.

The governor’s motorcade was preparing to head west on Randolph Street when two cars crashed into one another, one of them hitting the vehicle Rauner was riding in, Illinois state police director Hiram Grau said.

That evening, Rauner and his wife were scheduled to host a closed-door reception and business roundtable at the Chicago Club. Around 65 people were scheduled to attend the event, costing them $25,000 a couple for both events and $10,000 for just the reception.
