Publish Date: 2023, 01, 20

KANKAKEE, IL – Nobody was injured when a passenger vehicle struck a police car along the interstate in Kankakee early last Saturday morning, reports 13 WREX.

The incident occurred just prior to 2:30 a.m. on the entrance ramp from IL-17 to the northbound side of I-57, which is just east of the Lincoln Cultural Center.

The investigation suggests that an alleged DUI driver failed to move his Dodge Charger from the right to the left lane when passing a police cruiser that had stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate. The Dodge struck the left side of the police vehicle before leaving the scene of the accident.

The police officer did not sustain injuries in the collision.

Authorities located the 74-year-old driver of the Dodge near Bradley. The man faces several charges, including driving under the influence and violating Scott’s Law.
