Single-vehicle crash on IL-49 in Iroquois Co. kills 54-year-old man

IROQUOIS COUNTY, IL – A 54-year-old Woodland man died Sunday night following a single-vehicle crash near Rankin.

According to WCIA, the man was southbound on IL-49 near the Iroquois-Vermilion County border when his vehicle veered off the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle then struck with a culvert, causing it to roll multiple times and catch fire.

The man suffered fatal injuries in the crash. His identity is being withheld at this time.

The roadway was blocked for several hours while first responders worded to clear the scene. All lanes reopened by 12:40 p.m.
