OGDEN TWP., IL – A single-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two men in east Champaign County on Monday evening.
According to The News-Gazette, a 58-year-old man, was headed north on IL-49 at about 6 p.m. when he lost control of his Corvette near County Road 1700 North and collided with a guardrail.
Investigators say neither Stevens nor his 20-year-old passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, causing both to be ejected from the vehicle.
Henry died at the scene, while Stevens was transported to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.
