Tour bus vs semi crash closes part of I-57 near Ludlow

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL — A crash involving a tour bus last Friday night, March 31, blocked a section of Interstate 57 near Ludlow, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The accident blocked a span of I-57 in both directions between Exit 250 to Rantoul and Exit 261 to Paxton. It was first recorded by IDOT at 10:04 p.m.

Very few details have been made available, but officials indicated the tour bus was involved in a wreck with a semi-truck.

It was unclear how many people were on the bus at the time, or whether anyone was seriously injured.


At 10:25 p.m., more than 20 minutes after the initial report, all southbound lanes were reported reopened, but all northbound lanes remained blocked.

As of this writing, local agencies have not reported any charges.
