Two People Killed in Separate Kankakee Car Crashes

Two people were killed in separate car accidents in Kankakee County over the weekend.

According to police officials, the first accident occurred on Saturday morning when a father was driving his 9-year-old daughter on 6000N Road just near Illinois Route 50 and he failed to stop at a stop sign on the roadway.

Their vehicle was struck by a sport utility vehicle and both daughter and father were rushed to the hospital. The 9-year-old daughter was transported to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital where she was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained. Her father is being treated at Riverside Medical Center.

The second accident occurred on Illinois Route 114 when a 32-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on the roadway when he was struck head-on by another vehicle.  He was later pronounced dead by emergency crews after suffering from chest and head injuries. Official are awaiting autopsy results in order to determine the exact cause of death. No further information on either accident has been given at this time.
