UPS driver sues Illinois resident for dog attack

Last Updated: 23 July, 2014

Edwardsville, Illinois resident Kevin Auttenrieb was sued by United Parcel Services driver Steven Campbell in November of 2013. Campbell claims that he was attacked by the plaintiff’s dog as he was trying to deliver a package in July of 2012.

According to Auttenrieb’s Belleville-based legal counsel Michael Murphy, Campbell had not been able to provide the court with “clearly discoverable” documents, such as workers’ compensation claims files. which could prove that the incident indeed happened.

Auttenrieb also negated Campbell’s claims that he owned a dog with dangerous and aggressive propensities, saying “the dog had never previously exhibited aggressive behavior.” Campbell, who filed a negligence lawsuit against Auttenrieb, has accused him of violating the Illinois’ Animal Control Act and is seeking over $50,000 in damages for medical bills, lost wages, and attorney fees.
