Woman killed in two-car collision in Frankfort

Last Updated: 03 July, 2012

A woman was killed in a two-car crash in Frankfort over the weekend. According to fire officials, the accident occurred when the driver lost control of her car when she was traveling on Illinois Route 394 and attempted to navigate a curve in the road.

The vehicle then T-boned an SUV and caused it to go off the road and into the guardrail. Another car slid on the roadway because of the slick roads, but was able to regain control. Police officials have stated that the rainy weather was a contributing factor.

Three people were transported from the crash scene to local hospitals. An 80-year-old woman was fatally injured and pronounced dead at St. James Hospital, located in the Chicago Heights area, just after 5 p.m.
